Why are vision2learn courses offered free?
We really believe that creating access to free learning is the best way to help people keep their skills and knowledge up–to–date. This is important if you’re trying to get into work, back to work or get on at work. As vision2learn courses lead to nationally–recognised qualifications they are fundable by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in England. This means that courses are normally free of charge to anyone over the age of 16 who has been ordinarily resident in the European Union for 3 years or more, as long as this residency has been for purposes other than full–time study.
Funding can be complicated!

However, funding streams can be notoriously complicated and your local LSC may have prioritised certain types of funding and therefore certain types of course above others. This can in turn affect which vision2learn courses your local college is prepared to support with our network of online college tutors. For example, some courses are eligible for specific sources of LSC funding, for example Train to Gain funding for employed adults. And to be eligible for a free place you may have to meet specific criteria. You will find the detail of any specific criteria on the course information pages on our registration website www.vision2learn.net When you apply for a course you will also be contacted by telephone by our customer support team to check that you are eligible for the course you want to study.
We endeavour to create access to free learning opportunities for all but ultimately we can only provide what an LSC is prepared to fund and a college is prepared to support. If you find you aren’t eligible for whatever reason we’re sorry that we can’t be of more help on this occasion. And if it’s any consolation we get frustrated with funding too!
