Find out how to use your software. Learn how to create,
save and print new documents and how to enhance them
with formatting, editing and images.

Unit three:

Using email
|
Why use snail mail when you can email. Get started
by learning how to send and reply to emails. You’ll
learn how to print and delete email messages and move
your email messages into named folders.

Unit four:
|
Using computers safely and securely
|
Find out about the key health and safety aspects
of using computers, how to keep your system secure
and minimise the threat to security from computer
viruses.
|
Then choose one of the following two optional units:

Optional unit
one:
|
Internet technology
|
Find out how to access and surf the Internet, how to
use search engines and find out more about using email.
|
Optional unit
two:
|
Software applications
|
Find out what else your software can do. In this unit
you will access and use desktop publishing (DTP) software.
You’ll also explore the use of spreadsheets and how
they can be used to carry out basic calculations.

What software will I need access to in order to study
this course?
- An Internet enabled PC (click here to take a look
at the hardware and software requirements and see
what this should include)
- Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express (alternatively,
a web-based email account such as Hotmail can be used)
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Publisher (if you choose to study Optional
